The China
Series, inspired by my trip in 2002, is an
ongoing project evolving from abstraction
toward realism. The allure of antiquity, the
inspiration of Asian art, a last opportunity
to see the Three Gorges before inundation by
the Yellow River Dam, and the call of the
misty mountains of the Lin Valley, all
conspired to seduce me into traveling to the
other side of the globe.
